Yes, it is essential. Never try to put on latex "dry" as the friction will cause it to snap. Use a silicone-based dressing aid for a smooth slide, or unscented talcum powder for a silky feel. Avoid oil-based products (like baby oil), as they will destroy the latex material instantly.
Follow the size chart strictly. High-quality latex already has "negative ease" (built-in stretch) of about 5% to 10%. If you buy a size too small, it will overstretch, causing the seams to split or the material to become transparent and thin. Always use your actual body measurements when ordering.
Use a specialized silicone latex shiner. Latex items arrive dull and matte. To get the "catwalk" look, apply a few drops of 100% silicone polish after dressing and wipe it evenly with a soft sponge or lint-free cloth. This also adds a protective layer against dust and fingerprints.
Keep it in a cool, dark place away from metals. "Bronzing" (brown stains) is caused by contact with copper, brass, or nickel. Keep your latex away from coins, keys, and cheap jewelry. Store items flat or on wide hangers in opaque bags to prevent UV light damage, and never store different colors touching each other to avoid color transfer.
